Stories from Lebanon & Gaza | Shabbat Dinner

Friday, Dec 13 6:40PM

  • We are honored to invite you to a  communal Shabbat dinner at the Chabad Jewish Center of Puerto Rico this Friday night. Joining us will be Captain Benaya Cherlow, a remarkable young leader with a deeply compelling story.

Captain Cherlow was called up for service on October 7 and recently completed 180 days of reserve duty as an armor officer in Gaza and Lebanon. His unique experiences include interactions with Gazan civilians and an understanding of Arabic, shaped by his family’s rootsâ€"his mother was born in Lebanon within the Jewish community, and his grandparents fled the Holocaust to the USA.

Beyond his military service, Captain Cherlow has worked in the U.S. House of Representatives, addressing critical issues like combating anti-Semitism and Israel’s security. A scholar with a degree in decision-making and strategy, he brings a profound perspective to the complex challenges of the Middle East.

This is a great opportunity to hear firsthand accounts of Israel’s recent challenges and triumphs through  the eyes of someone who has lived them. Don’t miss this inspiring evening of community, connection, and meaningful dialogue.
